Mutiara and I were supposed to work on this during the tutorial with Cikgu Azam today, and here’s what we’ve got so far…
(A = the Tourist; B = the local)
A: Selamat Pagi! Maafkan saya, awak orang Singapurakah?
A: Good morning! Excuse me, are you Singaporean?
B: Selamat Pagi! Ya, saya orang Singapura. Ada apa?
B: Good morning! Yes, I am a Singaporean. What’s the matter?
A: Awak tahukah di mana pejabat poskah?
A: Do you know where the post office is?
B: Pejabat pos di sana. Tapi pejabat pos tidak buka sekarang.
B: The post office is over there. But the post office is not open now.
A: Pukul berapakah pejabat pos buka?
A: What time does the post office open?
B: Pejabat pos buka pada pukul sepuluh pagi.
B: The post office opens at 10am.
A: Oh, terima kasih!
A: Oh, thank you!
B: Sama-sama. Selamat tinggal.
B: You’re welcome. Goodbye.
A: Selamat jalan.
A: Farewell.
